Duty Manager

We are looking for an enthusiastic duty manager for our busy country pub, hotel and large banqueting operation. This is a full-time role with a 40-45 hour contract. You will be responsible, along with the General Manager and Banqueting Manager, to seamlessly run/oversee weddings, parties and conferences and day-to-day operations as well as being the Duty Manager on shifts within the Brasserie and public bar.

Key Responsibilities:

• Organising the preparation, set up and service of dining, function and events areas, you’ll ensure a high level of efficiency whilst maintaining and improving standards and quality of service
• You’ll work closely with other departments to ensure good communication and clarity on events
• Clear on the event timings, providing a friendly and warm service, efficient and accommodating
• You will achieve consistently high service standards and ensure customers are at the heart of everything we do
• Seamlessly run weddings, parties and conferences
• Ensuring all health and safety, food hygiene and other company policies are adhered to
• Training and development of staff members
• Managing the hotel’s restaurant in the absence of the restaurant manager and assisting in service
• Adhering to targets and profit margins as well as delegating and overseeing the daily running of the hotel

Who are you?

• Experience as a Duty Manager or Hospitality Supervisor
• Experience in Team Management
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to communicate at all levels.
• A strong customer service focus with the motivation to consistently drive high service levels
• The ability to work in a high-pressured environment whilst maintaining a calm character
• Experience managing functions/weddings/restaurant, with a strong background in the preparation and running of weddings including master of ceremonies duties
• A passion for detail

Brasserie/Restaurant Supervisor

Our brasserie is adjacent to the main bar and general dining area, we require a Brasserie / Restaurant Supervisor to focus on our busy bar & brasserie areas. The pace is busy but relaxed benefitting from our record-breaking Gin collection and private dining. With guests enjoying private dining in the vaulted cellar, romantic dinner for twos, family dining and celebrations.

Bar Team Members

We’re on the lookout for bar staff who have a passion for customer service. We will provide a friendly work environment where no two days are the same, whether that be serving / preparing drinks at Weddings, Celebrations or other large events, engaging in conversation with regulars in the main bar or providing service for conference and banqueting events in our onsite function room. Hospitality experience is helpful, but not essential as all training will be provided when you start.

Waiting On Servers

We’re always on the lookout for floor staff at our venues – Fence Gate Lodge, Fence Gate & the Eagle at Barrow. No two days are the same from providing our guests with beverages, breakfast, lunch or dinner to providing service for Conference & Banqueting events. And throughout the seasons serving food and drinks inside next to our log fires to summer on the terraces, under the heated canopies. Our venues open daily from 12noon until late. Shifts can start as early as 10.00 am and finish as late as 1.00 am. Keep this in mind when applying for these positions.

Who are you?

Our new colleague is enthusiastic, guest orientated and a team player. He or she is eager to learn and has a passion for working in a AA 5 star gold property and associated sister venues. You don’t need specific training for these roles. Charm and people skills don’t require any qualifications, but you do need to be confident and work well as part of a team.
