Family

Family is everything at Fence Gate and what better than to have a close knit father and daughter team running the organisation.

Kevin Berkins, a Master Butcher, trained as a butcher in the family business from the age of 14. After leaving the family business at 19, owning 5 town centre butchers shops and freezer shops in and around Burnley & Pendle and supplying the hospitality industry, Fence Gate was a natural progression. He purchased the beautiful 18th century property in 1982 and lovingly extended and modernised it over the years. The most recent addition to Fence Gate is a 24 bedroom luxurious lodge with an additional function room which now completes our guest experience for corporate and leisure guests alike.  Kevin's attention to detail can be recognised throughout the properties.

Keeley Beaumont (Kevin's Daughter) completed her Business Studies degree at Leeds University.  From University Keeley went to work for Leeds United in corporate sales and after a number of years took a senior position in corporate sponsorship. After 7 successful years with Leeds United it was time to leave.  Keeley and Kevin were enjoying a family dinner when Kevin asked Keeley if she would be interested in working with him.  It was a very emotional moment when Keeley responded "she had always wanted to work within the family business".  You may be asking why she hadn't worked with her father previously, well as Keeley would say "I was waiting to be asked".  Keeley has been working with her Father for the past 13 years as a Director of the Fence Gate and they are still as close as ever.
